Danish young rider Carina Nevermann Torup has lost the ride on the 10-year old licensed Danish Trakehner stallion Kafelnikov as the horse has been sold to China.

Nevermann Torup and Marcus Christensen's Kafelnikov (by Ladroneur x Camelot) were long listed for the Danish team for the 2011 Nordic Baltic Championships and European Young Riders Championships.

"We spent a little to get to know each other, and I spent some more time to get him to act as I wanted, and from here on it has been a daily pleasure to ride “Koffe”," Nevermann Torup commented. The dark bay stallion "has a superb behavior, a fantastic temperament, and great pleasure for work. Of course it's a shame, that he has now been sold, but I knew it was the target, so I'm happy that our riding and results have paid off," she added.

The stallion is bred by Peter Christensen and was long-listed for team Denmark for the 2007 World Young Horse Championships under John Hvalsoe Saul.

The new owner and rider of Kafelnikov is 2001 and 2005 Chinese dressage champion Huang Zor Qin. In 2009 Zor Qin won team gold at the Chinese Games and in 2010 he won team silver at the Asian Games.

"The goal is top results at the National Games in 2013 and the Asian Games 2014," said Danish Birgitte Byrialsen, who is China's team trainer.
