It is uncertain whether the 2012 CDI Zwolle will take place next year. The organizers of "Zwolle International" were unable to book their usual venue, De Ijsselhallen in Zwolle, on the normal scheduled date. The expo center has reserved its indoor arenas for a Holiday on Ice event instead.
Zwolle International features international show jumping and dressage classes and is a well attended event in the winter the first weeks of January. However, for 2012 those dates have been reserved for a Holiday on Ice show, which apparently is more lucrative than a horse show.
"I can not understand that this can happen to a sport town like Zwolle," said show organizer Chris van Dam. "I can say very little about the future of this competition, which has been held at the Ijsselhallen for the past 18 years." There is the possibility to skip 2012 and come back in 2013, but "we're certain that we no longer are going to do one-year contract with them. Continuity is essential."
