Tough but Beautiful, Horses & Dreams Meets Germany 2011

Thu, 03/24/2011 - 11:51
2011 CDI Hagen

Laissez-faire is something quite different – the introduction to the 2011 outdoor season is set to take place at the top international event Horses & Dreams meets Germany at Hof Kasselmann.  For the two and four-legged athletes involved this will be a demanding task, as the sport programme, spread over five quite exceptional days

in Hagen a.T.W. (4 - 8 May), will present some serious challenges, including the kick-off to the DKB Riders Tour and a comprehensive dressage programme.

A total of nine challenging events await riders at CSI3* Horses & Dreams, including the qualifiers for the first classification round of the DKB Riders Tour and the classification round itself.  This will take place in the Grand Prix at Hagen a.T.W. and on its own is allocated 80,000 Euros prize money. For the show-jumpers at Hof Kasselmann Sunday will be all about prize money and the DKB Riders Tour – as well as world ranking points.

In addition there will be three events for the seven and eight year old horses of the international riders – totalling 12 international competitions at the highest level over five days.  This will also mean new highs in the amounts of prize money at stake:  From 4th to 8th May a total of 190,000 Euros will be won in the show-jumping arena at Horses & Dreams!

The Dressage programme at Hof Kasselmann has long been unparalleled.  In 2011, however, Ullrich Kasselmann and Paul Schockemöhle will manage to beat their own records.  A total of seven international events, ranging from the Prix St. Georges to the Grand Prix Special, will be on offer to participants and spectators, and onlookers will struggle to tear their eyes away from superstar Totilas and his young rider Matthias Alexander Rath (Kronberg), who will complete their first tournament together at Hof Kasselmann.

Tearing your eyes away may also be a problem when it comes to the national events programme, which boasts three 'jewels in the crown':  For starters, Horses & Dreams is the location for the Piaff Forderpreis, a series for the under 25s.  Then comes the return of the Young Horse Grand Prix (FN) to the Osnabrück region.  Known at one time as the Media Cup, the series for the best four-legged young athletes around now has a new title sponsor in the form of company TESCH Inkasso, and will celebrate its opening in Hagen a.T.W.    Squad riders such as Ellen Schulten-Baumer (Rheinberg) and Matthias Alexander Rath have previously taken part in and stood out at the Piaff Forder Prize, and the Young Horse Grand Prix has launched championship horses such as Anabel Balkenhol's Dablino (World Cup team bronze 2010) into the public eye.

The German Professional Dressage Championship, with its tough qualifiers in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special and its spectacular final with horse exchange will be decided for the ninth time at Hof Kasselmann.  A whole host of reasons not to miss the opening of the international green season!

Don't miss a beat with TV!
The stunning start to the season in the north will also be captured on television:  ARD will be showing Totilas and his first tournament appearance on 8th May from 16.05 to 17.00, as well as the finest show-jumping, with the final of the first leg of the DKB Riders Tour.
