While Shannon Peters husband Steffen was breaking records at the World Dressage Masters in Wellington, Florida, his wife was achieving her own milestone in the first CDI with her Grand Prix partner Odyssey. After two years full of starts and delays, Shannon Peters navigated Odyssey to win the top honors in Odyssey’s first CDI Grand Prix Special class with a 66. 250%.
Odyssey is owned by Akiko Yamasaki and is a lovely 15 year old KWPN gelding by Ferro out Gerina.
Shannon has only been working with Odyssey since 2009. Preceding his being imported, he had been in Anky’s training barn in Holland. “When I began to work with him,” she said, “he could do all of the Grand Prix movements, but not necessarily put a test together. He had only shown through fourth level in Europe. Also, having not shown in four years was our challenge.”
