Balsandra, Price Highlight of the 2010 PSI Auction

A young show jumper stole the limelight at the 2010 PSI Auction in Ankum on Sunday afternoon 12 December 2010. The German young horse champion Balsandra became the most expensive horse of the 31st Performance Sales International.

The 6-year old mare by Baloubet du Rouet x Sandro sold for 800,000 euro to Russia.

Fifty jumpers and young dressage horses in total were sold at Paul Schockemohle and Ullrich Kasselmann's highly renowned auction.

The second highest knock down price was paid for the 6-year old grey jumper mare Caruschka (by Caspar x Continue). She sold for 770,000 euro.

The best selling dressage horse was the 5-year old Hanoverian stallion Riccidoff (by Riccione x Don Davidoff). The bay licensed stallion sold for 680,000 euro to Elizabeth "Betsy" Juliano of Havensafe Farm in Ohio, United States. She also bought the 3-year old Horizon (by Hotline x Don Schufro) for 550,000 euro. Juliano has Grand Prix rider George Williams as head trainer at her farm.

The 5-year old mare Belandra (by Belissimo M x Sandro Hit) sold for 572,000 euro to Denmark. Danny Ocean (by Damon Hill x Wenzel I) sold for 420,000 euro to a U.S. based dressage rider.

The 3-year old Sir Donnerhall x Weltmeyer offspring Soccer City switched owners for 250,000 euro, while Serpico (by Sandro Hit x Canaster I), the full brother to the Oldenburg elite mare champion Silberaster, sold for 200,000 euro to a German dressage horse owner.

Gestut Wiesenhof paid 300,000 euro for For My Life (by Furst Heinrich x Don Schufro), while Monaco based Bernadette Brune paid 160,000 euro for Raschid (by Riccione x Lanciano).

The total turnover of the 2010 PSI Auction was 12,616,000 euro. The average price for a show jumper was 296,040 euro and for a dressage horse clients paid 208,600 euro on average. 

"This result of the PSI Auction shows that clients are willing to invest in top horses," said Paul Schockemohle. "We're happy with the total results of this PSI Auction."
