Weltjunge became the sole dressage bred colt approved at the 2009O Swiss Stallion Licensing in Avenches, Switzerland, November 19-21, 2009.
This 3-year old stallion was presented at the licensing by Markus Graf.
The Swiss warmblood society does not proclaim a licensing champion nor ranks them according to quality. They only give the approved status or not. Eight stallions in total got a "pass" from the Swiss warmblood stallion committee of which seven were show jumpers. Three 2,5 year olds were accepted to come back to the licensing next year and five were officially licensed by the committee. Weltjunge, on the other hand, is dressage bred by Weltfeuer (by Weltmeyer x Iran) out of a Linaro x Liguster dam. The breeder and owner is Gisele Borel from Gossau, Switzerland.
The 2009 Swiss Breed Classic finals were also hosted at the licensing in Avenches. Thirty horses were entered for this under-saddle class in which the basic gaits and rideability of the horse are tested. First the rider gets the opportunity to present his horse, then the top five are ridden by two guest judge riders, this year by Markus Graf and Francoise Cantamessa.
The winner was Kayal du Perchet, a dark bay Swiss bred youngster by GB Konvally x Akribori x Columbus. He scored 8.5 for walk and general impression and 9 for trot, canter and rideability. He landed first place with 44 points and was the supreme champion. The colt is bred by Pierre Saunier and owned by Grunder-Bauen. He was presented in the Finals by Mélanie Hofmann, who is head rider at Hans Grunder's stable.
The reserve champion was Furstin LIN, a Furst Heinrich x Padarco van het Hertsveld x Warkant offspring. She scored 7.75 for walk, 9 for trot, 8.5 for canter, 8.0 for rideability and 8.25 for general impression, totalling 41,50 points.
