2009 Global Dressage Forum

International dressage trainer Ton de Ridder will present a master class on Tuesday afternoon 27th October at the 2009 Global Dressage Forum. Born in the Netherlands, German based De Ridder has much experience in top dressage.

He lives and works in Germany since many years and has contributed to Germany’s Olympic team gold medal as the trainer of his wife Alexandra Simons-de Ridder during the Sydney Olympics. At the beginning of August 2009 some of Ton de Ridder’s pupils participated in the European Championships for Juniors and Young Riders in Ermelo, The Netherlands.

He gave a preview on his master class: “As I gained a lot of experience in training young people over the past few years, I want to present my views during the Global Dressage Forum. I will bring some young dressage riders and will demonstrate the basic elements of riding. How do I prepare on my first dressage tests? How do I ride the center line, how to tackle a corner, what is the best way to ride a half pass? The answers on such simple questions are important. Basic control and
attention for details, that is what it is all about. It seems extra important to me for the many representatives from countries who are less experienced, of which there are many during the Global Dressage Forum."

De Ridder is bringing one of his start students, the Japanese Grand Prix rider Hiroshi Hoketsy. "He is one of the most successful riders from the new dressage countries, and proves that it is possible to participate on a high level, when you are coming from a country where dressage is still developing,” says Ton de Ridder.
