Münster is celebrating the big final of the MedienCup 2009! The best twelve combinations assured themselves a ticket during four qualification competitions.

At the Turnier der Sieger in Münster, Germany, 20th – 23rd August 2009, the best German Grand Prix youngsters are going to meet. It will be the summit of the dressage youngsters in front of the castle in Muenster.

The stage of the Medien Cup is more important than ever to team trainer Holger Schmezer. Here he will start looking for future Championship horses considering the tight situation just before the European Championships in Windsor. It clarifies how badly Germany needs upcoming European- and World Champions.

The MedienCup, which is the dressage series for eight to ten year old horses, featured for example Donnelly who will be presented by the riding master Hubertus Schmidt. This eight year old Westphalian, who placed twice in the Bundeschampionate Finals and once in the World Championship finals, has been under the saddle of Schmidt only for a year now and during this time he has developed from M-level to a potential Grand Prix horse and even has been regarded as prospect for the European Championships in Windsor.

Another finalist is Damon Hill – the beautiful dark chestnut stallion, who already called the attention since he was young. He took part in the Bundeschampionat three times, became World Champion of the five and six year old young dressage horses and got second in the final of the Nürnberger Burkpokal last year.

Double Olympic champion Ulla Salzgeber is also using the MedienCup in order to present one of her top youngster horses: She won the last qualifier in Heroldsberg on her nine year old Wakana. It will be a very exquisite starting field – with a look not only on the horses but also on the riders.

Isabell Werth who won the first qualifier in Hagen on her winner of the Nürnberger Burgpokal, El Santo will not be part of the final because of known reasons. The Swedish top rider Patrick Kittel and his qualified horse Tellwell will also miss the final in Münster because he is preparing himself for the European Championships in Windsor. Kittel will be part of the Swedish team with his horse Scandic. Scandic also made it through the MedienCup into the Grand Prix sport: He finished up 5th at last years MedienCup final.

“The Turnier der Sieger has been a meeting point of the best and most successful ones since many years, as part of the greens season in dressage and in jumping. Therefore it fits like a glove that the final of the MedienCup is taking place in Muenster”, accentuates the event director Hendrik Snoek.
