There was only a 5-year old Bundeschampionate qualification class at the regional show in Kiel on 12 July 2009, but none of the five participants in the class was able to score above 8.0. The division was won by Alexandra Bimschas on the grey Trakehner stallion Irdenkreis (by Cadeau x Schampus). The pair scored 7.8 to claim the trophy. Wolfgang Schade and the Holsteiner stallion De Chirico (by Dolany x Linaro) finished right behind them with 7.7.
One week later, another qualifier only for 6-year old Dressage Horses was hosted in the Holstein province but at Hademarschen. Two 6-year olds obtained a berth for Warendorf, while the others stayed below the criterium. Wolfgang Schade and the Hanoverian gelding Willi Wacker (by Wilawander xx x Regazzoni) won the class with an 8.2 score. He was followed by Sophie Wels aboard Lord von Holstein with 8.0
