A tragedy took place at the usually fantastic gala show held annually at the Danish Warmblood stallion licensing in Herning, Denmark, on Friday evening. Camilla Orloff's Maneur collapsed and died of a heart attack during the show.

Danish Junior Rider Camilla Orloff presented her 15-year old Danish warmblood stallion Maneur (by Schwadroneur x Picandt) in the show. On her final line heading towards the exit, the bay stallion collapsed. He fell unconscious on the ground, tried to get on his feet again but then dropped on the ground. Miraculously Orloff did not get injured and was able to get off the horse and get herself into safety.

Within minutes the music was switched off and the lights turned down while several veterinarians, including Julie Fjeldborg (head of the Copenhagen Academic Vet Clinic) tried to safe the life of Maneur. Unfortunately the horse could not be rescued as he died immediately.

"It was a real tragedy. People were crying and there was a 20 minute break in the gala show," a spectator told Eurodressage.

Orloff and Maneur became the 2008 Danish Junior Riders Champions. She won team bronze at the 2008 European Junior Riders Championships and finished 13th in the individual test and 8th in the Kur to Music test at the Euro Championships.
