2008 Global Dressage Forum

Mental coach Dr. Rico Schuijers, well-known in the national and international equestrian sports, was involved in winning several medals at the Olympic Games in Beijing and Hong Kong.

The most remarkable achievement was his contribution to the gold medal for the Dutch water polo team. After winning the gold medal, the players expressed their gratitude to Schuijers for his input. During the Global Dressage Forum at 27 – 28th October in Hooge Mierde, Schuijers is one of the speakers of the working groups.

The topic of this presentation will be the difference between training and competition. Dr. Rico Schuijers will talk about coping with stress, motivation, concentration and self-confidence. Some practical, ready-to-use skills will be provided to become aware of thoughts and feelings during training and competitions. The influence of the mental state of the equestrian athlete on the state of the horse will be discussed. Schuijers will introduce his new DVD, recently produced in the USA, with mental skills for equestrians.
