Italian Pony Team Selected for 2008 European Pony Championships

The Italian pony team for the 2008 European Pony Championships was selected right after the 2008 Italian Pony Dressage Championships which took place in Cervia, Italy, July 1-2, 2008.

The Italian championships were heavily occupied with 74 pony riders competing in three classes. In the under 13-class, Valerio Andretta won with Top Nashvil, ahead of Monica Bovati on Joie Let's and Alice Virgili on Air. In the open pony class, Arianna Petroncini and Okidoki were the best, ahead of Flaminio Veneziani on Tune and Claudia Brambilla on Cirsio del Colle San Marco.

The Italian FEI Pony Championship was won by Giulia Pignatti on Scampolo. She obtained the gold medal with 137.23 points. The silver went to Caroline Cassis on Just You n Me (135,31) and the bronze to Vittoria Zaniboni on Roxette (131,96).

Based on these results, the Italian Equestrian Federation and team coach Piero Sangiorgi announced the Pony Team for the 2008 European Pony Championships in Avenches, Switzerland, July 24-27, 2008. Team members are:

  • Giulia Pignatti - Scampolo
  • Vittoria Zaniboni - Roxette
  • Caroline Cassis - Forestina
  • Eleonora Sparaciari - Dalai
