Former Dutch team rider Jeannette Haazen and her husband Chris were severely injured in a car accident yesterday November 20, 2007. The couple got involved in a crash with their lorry in Germany on their way to the World Cup Qualifier

in Odense, Denmark. They were transported to the hospital in Damme, near Osnabruck, Germany.

Jeanette sustained major bruises to her legs but Chris, who got stuck in the lorry, is heavily injured to his legs. He fractured one leg severely which had to be operated on. In the other leg, he tore the ligaments, which can not be operated because of the gravity of his condition at the moment. An operation would increase the risk for infections.

Hopefully next week, Chris will be transported to a hospital in The Netherlands or Belgium where he will undergo another operation to his leg and where he can start the recovery which is expected to take very long due to the severity of his condition.

None of the horses were injured in the accident.
