British Dressage’s chairman of selectors David Trott was extremely pleased with the strong performances of British riders at Rotterdam CDIO in Holland and Lingen CDI in Germany, 20-24 June 2007. Based on the recent performances of the Brits on the continent, Trott has been able to selected a team for the 2007 CDIO Aachen, July 3-8, 2007.

“This weekend’s results are helping to confirm our thoughts for the European Championship team [Turin, Italy, 25 August-5 September], which we will announce after Aachen CDIO on Friday, 13th July,” said David, who has selected Emma Hindle (Lancet), Laura Bechtolsheimer (Mistral Hojris) and Anna Ross-Davies (Liebling II) to go to Aachen. Fiona Bigwood was supposed to be the fourth team member but has had to pull out and the place has been offered to Wayne Channon and Lorenzo CH.

On the performances of the Brits in Lingen and Rotterdam, David said: “I was particularly impressed with Laura Bechtolsheimer and Mistral Hojris, who has been earning eights and nines for his piaffe and passage, and Carl Hester and Lecantos.

In Lingen, Laura and Mistral Hojris continued to prove their consistency by taking third in the grand prix with 70.125% and second in the grand prix special with 71.36%. With her other ride, Douglas Dorsey, Laura was fifth in the grand prix on 67.25% and then moved up to third in the grand prix freestyle with 72.5%. Also competing at Lingen was German-based Brit, Susan Pape, who took second place in the Nurnberg Burgpokal qualifier with 69.05% riding Baroncelli.
