The International Dressage Riders Club (IDRC) announced to its members the following change in the FEI Regulations regarding consolation competitions: For rider and horse combinations who do not qualify for the Grand Prix Special or Freestyle

, a consolation competition may be scheduled. The test to be used will be the Grand Prix or Grand Prix Freestyle test (and NOT the Intermediate II test as was previously the case).

No world ranking list points will be awarded for results obtained in these consolation competitions. As only three judges will judge the consolation competition there is no risk of these results being taken into account in error as the FEI Results Department will only take into account those Grand Prix competitions which are judged by five judges.

Furthermore combinations can not make a consolation Grand Prix test score count as a qualification score for Championships or Olympic Games.

This rule change will apply as from 1 January 2006 (refer to article 422.16 of the FEI Regulations for Dressage Events, effective 1 January 2006).
