French Bidding Duel Results in 320,000 € for Royal Deniro at Vechta Elite Auction

At the 2006 Vechta Elite Autumn Auction, a tough bidding duel between Frenchmen Xavier Marie and Marc Feller resulted in a "win" for Feller. He ended up buying the most expensive horse of the auction, Royal Deniro. For 320,000 euro, Feller purchased this dark bay gelding by Royal Diamond x De Niro x Grossadmiral in the presence of his trainers Marina and Philippe van den Berghe from Paris, France.

Sissy Max-Theurer purchased the 5-year old mare Dolce Vita (Diamond Hit x Rubinstein x Inschallah AA) for 120,000 euro. Max-Theurer also took home the highest priced foal of the auction. She paid 50,000 euro for Stromer (by Sandro Hit x Brentano II x Grunewald) while daughter Victoria got Wiener Classic (by Sandro Hit x Weltmeyer x Calderon) for 35,000 euro.

British Grand Prix rider Peter Storr acquired the second most expensive horse, Royal Concert. Storr paid 172,000 euro for this Royal Diamond x Continue offspring. Grand Prix dressage rider Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff also purchased two foals: Dynamit (Diamond Hit x Grundstein II) for 20,000 euro and Samos (Sir Donnerhall x Mythos) for 22,000 euro.

Royal Concert
Marta Kauffman, the producer of the TV show Friends, fell for another pony. She bought the mare foal Constantina (by Constantin x Rubin Royal) for 16,000 euro. The filly will join the licensed pony stallion Chardonnay in California, where he is being campaigned by Kauffman's trainer Jaye Cherry.

60 riding horses were sold at the 2006 Autumn Elite Auction and they achieved an average price of 32,475 euro. 29 of them sold abroad. The average price for a foal was 10,635 euro. 17 foals sold abroad.
