What's Happening in the Dressage World?
Dirk Willem Rosie

Every horse breeder and stallion lover knows the massive German Stallion Book "Ausgewahlte Hengste Deutschlands". Editor Bernd Eylers now published the pony variant of this book. We've received a copy of this new German Pony Stallion Book called "Ausgewählte Reitponyhengste Deutschlands" to review and loved it! The pony stallion book is a massive source of information with in depth descriptions of over 100 riding pony stallions and pony foundation sires. Illustrated with many photos, the book features detailed information about their breeding, performances and offspring. You can found out great details on, for instance, Dressmann I, Kantje's Ronaldo, Principal Boy, Valido, Dornik B, Constantin, FS Don't Worry and many more. For only 35 euro, the book is yours. Only downside, at the moment, is that it's just offered in German. More info about the book and how to order it can be found at Horse-gate

The KWPN website reported that Dirk Willem Rosie is resigning from his position as head of information and communications at the KWPN office. Rosie will also be quitting his job as editor-in-chief of the official KWPN magazine "In De Strengen". Rosie resigned because of irreconcilable differences in opinion about the future of In De Strengen. Rosie will be succeeded by Mrs. Dekker.

The national German dressage show in Dusseldorf, called "Duesseldorfer Reitertage" is featuring a special free lesson by Isabell Werth on Saturday evening July 1, 2006. For the first time in the show's history, there will a Grand Prix and a Grand Prix freestyle under floodlight. Former Olympic champion Isabell Werth will give a demonstration to explain the details of a Grand Prix before the show on saturday night. The floodlight Grand Prix and Isabell Werth demo are an initiative of Belgian Grand Prix rider Johan Zagers who is based in Dusseldorf at Gut Nothenhof.

Anky van Grunsven will return to Germany prior to the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen in August, despite her stating that she doesn't feel welcome there anymore and doesn't feel like going 'there'. She has entered herself with Salinero for the Grand Prix tour at the CDI Lingen in July. She'll be joining almost all of Germany's A-listed riders and Lingen could be the scene for the first official Clash Between the Titans: Elvis VA vs. Salinero. More info on the list of participants later on Eurodressage.com

A couple of idiots hacked into Gestuet Vorwerk's website and felt the desperate urge to post that "Powerful & Bela was here".. First learn your grammar before hacking into someone else's system: 'Was' should be 'were'

Ouch, maybe by writing this we are jinxing ourselves and Eurodressage will be the next site to be hacked!?...

Some strong language was spoken by German chef d'Equipe Holger Schmezerwho said in the press conference after the Aachen Nation's Cup that his team for the World Equestrian Games " has no use for riders who ride World Records one day and fail utterly the next." Schmezer was political enough not to mention names... Another ouch!!

We were thrilled to read on Dressagedaily that some Belgian warmblood power is making its mark in dressage in the United States. The 5-year old Belgian warmbloodBig Tyme (by Saros van het Gestelhof x Wendekreis) won the overall USEF/Markel Insurance Young Horse Western Dressage Selection Trial at Flintridge with an 8.84 score. Rider and owner Marisa Festerling is of course very thrilled with her dark bay gelding (which was bred by Jos and Ria Loots just round to corner from the Eurodressage headquarters!!). "“He feels super, like no other horse I've ever ridden before,”said Festerling.

Australian dressage riders Lyndal Oatley and Kate Taylor-Wheat plus horses arrived safely at Ulla Salzgeber's stable in Bad Worishofen, Germany, for a European training getaway. Their trip from Down Under to Germany was not without some adventures. "Kate and I arrived at Ulla's stables after an epic journey of over fifty-three hours, taking us on an unexpected world journey including Melbourne, Hong Kong, Dubai, Frankfurt and then finally Bad Wörishofen," Lyndal wrote. "Would hate to see what a non-direct flight would be!!!! We stayed overnight in Hong Kong waiting for our broken-down plane to arrive, which then did broke down again. Luckily we had Snowy, a very good groom, who refused to have us moved off the plane to a non-air conditioned warehouse, and it was very humid and hot! Instead we stayed overnight on the plane with an air conditioning truck attached to it. But all said, both horses arrived safe and well and have settled into to the stables well. We have begun our 'crank-up' lessons as Ulla calls them and are already seeing the results of attention to detail and Ulla's watchful eye! "
