Kathleen Raine's international Grand Prix horse Fidelia has passed away January 10, 2006, following a severe bout of colic she did not survive. The Dutch warmblood mare by Beethoven out of Vieni (by Nepal) was the alternate for the American Dressage Team
that competed at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
"She was a fantastic horse with a heart of gold," Raine's husband David Wightman told Eurodressage. "She has three babies that all live on our farm, one by Ferro that we own in parternership with Peter and Kim Wilson, and two by Juventus, one owned by Ann Hamilton and the other by Dan and Virginia Wightman. Fiddle, as we fondly call her, will be greatly missed. She was bought and brought to the states by Kathleen's mother Betsy Raine who passed away in 1996."
Raine and Fidelia competed in the U.S.E.T Olympic selection trials in the U.S. and Europe in 1999 and 2000 and were the alternates for the Sydney Olympics. The mare was 19 years old.
