Danish Olympic dressage rider Jon Pedersen has been appointed the new team trainer for the Danish junior and young riders. Pedersen signed the contract with the Danish Equestrian Federation last week and will take up this position on February 1, 2006.

"Jon is a very competent rider and trainer. He participated in the biggest competitions and has experience that can help the nervous young riders. We're all very glad that Jon has accepted this position," Kim Berner of the Danish Equestrian Federation said.

Jon Pedersen, who is the head rider and trainer at Stable Dalumgaard in Denmark, stated that Danish Grand Prix team train Rudolf Zeilinger convinced him to take the job. Pedersen has set ambitious goals he wants to achieve as team trainer. "I want to work at bringing the young riders together and making them fight as a team. Only as a team do we have the best chance. Riders need to be tolerant for each other, because there will be room for everyone," Pedersen said.

Pedersen, who won team bronze at the European Championships and who competed at the Olympic Games in Sydney and Athens aboard Esprit de Valdemar, is succeeding Bjarne Nielsen as team trainer.
