The American Hanoverian Society (AHS) is pleased to announce that a Young Horse Training Symposium with Debbie McDonald, 2004 Olympic Bronze Medalist and 2003 World Cup Champion will be held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center on Saturday, February 4th, 2006.

You do not need to be an AHS member to attend. This one-day symposium is open to the public.

Ms. McDonald will give a keynote address Friday afternoon at the Sheraton and will continue with the training symposium on Saturday at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. The emphasis of the symposium is to teach attendees the philosophy and methods Debbie uses so successfully to start young horses and train them through Fourth Level to prepare for FEI.

The symposium is unique, as it will focus on "the big picture" of training young dressage horses from start to finish. Ms. McDonald's training methods, which include some of Klaus Balkenhol’s techniques, will utilize guest riders on some of the nation’s best young Hanoverian dressage horses.

Ms. McDonald will lecture from the arena and have the horse/rider combinations demonstrate the concepts being taught throughout the day. In addition, she will answer questions from the audience in order to assist attendees with individualized training challenges.

Pre-registration for the Saturday Symposium is $55. Walk-in registration on the day of the symposium at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center is $65. Early reservation is advised, as space is limited. Active AHS members or individuals interested in joining AHS are encouraged to attend the entire AHS Annual Meeting on February 3-5, 2006 at the Sheraton Hotel in Universal City, California. Early registration for the entire meeting is $175. This includes the Debbie McDonald Symposium, educational programs, seminars, Awards Banquet, Silent Auction and more! Information on Hanoverian stallions at stud in the U.S. and Hanoverian horses for sale across the country will also be available.

The pre-registration deadline for the AHS Annual Meeting and symposium is January 11, 2006. Thereafter, registration for the meeting is $200 and the Debbie McDonald symposium is $65. Hotel reservations at the reduced AHS meeting rate of $159/night (single or double occupancy) can be made until January 19, 2006. Hotel reservations must be made directly through the Sheraton Universal City Hotel at (818) 980-1212.
