620,000 euro was the highest amount paid for a young sport horse at the renowned P.S.I. Auction in Ankum, Germany, December 11, 2005. Not a dressage horse, but a show jumper was able to fetch this high knock down price.
The Italian Orlandi paid this amount for the 5-year old stallion Leporello (Levantos x Prinz Oldenburg x Argentinus), who won the bronze medal at the 2005 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf.
The most expensive dressage horse was Legamento, an Oldenburg branded Lord Sinclair x Donnerschwee gelding. The Dutch dressage trainer Henk van Bergen purchased Legamento for one of his clients. Two years ago, Van Bergen also shopped at PSI for another client of his. In 2003, Van Bergen's student Mirelle van Kemenade-Witlox purchased Dream Catcher at P.S.I. with whom she won the 2005 Pavo Cup Finals this year.
Three clients paid 500,000 euro for a young dressage star. The licensed stallion Don Bailey (Donnerhall x Pik Bube I) sold to Great Britain, the chestnut gelding Formidable (Florestan x Solo Dancer xx) sold to Brazil and Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff purchased the bay mare Welterfolg (by Welt Hit I x Cagliostro xx). Linsenhoff did more shopping at P.S.I. She also invested 420,000 euro into Triviant, a Dutch warmblood by Olivi x Saluut.
Though it is always hard to tell who the new owners of the PSI horses are, several international dressage riders and trainers were spotted buying youngsters in Ankum. Isabell Werth acquired Der Stern (Dormello x Sion) for 320,000 euro and Dr. Uwe Schulten Baumer bought Santino, a Sandro Hit x Furioso II gelding, for 130,000 euro.
