2005 Dutch Indoor Dressage Championships

Roger Schulkens, Kirsten Beckers, Madeleine Vrees and Laurens van Lieren are the 2005 Dutch Indoor Dressage Champions. This foursome rode to victory in the three-day Dutch Indoor Championships

that were hosted at Stable De Goubergh in Roosendaal, The Netherlands this weekend.

In the ZZ-Licht class (Third/Fourth level), Schulkens and his Paso Doble (by Don Primero) finished third in round one, but dominated his field of competitors in round two and three. His average score of 68.097% was plenty to take the overall lead and indoor title. He left Madeleine Vrees aboard the licensed Ro-Lex (by Montecristo) and Judith Debougnoux on Olaf (by Kingston) behind him.

At ZZ-Zwaar (Fourth level), Kirsten Beckers and Broere Phoenix (by Jazz) were the distinguished winners. With an overall of 68.877 and two wins out of three, the young duo left a very strong impression. Adelinde Cornelissen on Parzival (by Jazz) and Olga Boucher on Merudin (by Michelangelo) claimed silver and bronze.

The PSG-Intermediaire I Indoor Champion's title was won by Madeleine Vrees on Reduson's Patser (by Jazz), who felt strong competition from Kirsten Beckers on Broere Obelisk (by Matador). The two stayed on each other's heels, but Vrees had one overall percentage point advantage. Vrees grasped the national title with 71.127% and Beckers placed second with 70.127%.

The Grand Prix Indoor championship was won by World Cup qualifier routinier Laurens van Lieren and his Hexagon's Ollright (by Rubiquil). The combination rode the nicest kur to music, which earned him 73.05%. With this lovely score they beat the winner of the first round, Alex van Silfhout on Nimbly (by Havel). Kebie van der Heyden and Memphis (by Larome) placed third.
