Westfalian Breeding News

The 2004 World Young Horse Champion Florencio has had a minor breeding accident. The bay Westfalian licensed stallion injured himself by bruising his genitals while jumping on the phantom.

After the accident, he was immediately check upon by the vet, who told owners Henk Nijhoff and Paul Schockemohle that Florencio should be spared from breeding for five weeks.

"Florencio is feeling absolutely fine, he can just no longer breed for five weeks, which means that no fresh semen will be available the upcoming weeks," former owner Eugene Reesink explained. "There is plenty of frozen semen available, so breeders shouldn't worry," Reesink added.

Florencio is perfect healthy and feeling great, despite his "below the belt" inconvenience. In Germany, the rumor spread (and was printed) that Florencio has a viral infection which gave him a fever. Eugene Reesink said that is completely false information.
