Astrid Buer and her mount Remus were the winners of the Bundeschampionate qualification testst at the Essen-Werden qualifier May 28-31st. Scoring 8.80 in the 5-year old division, Astrid Buer and Remus
took a strong list in a field of only 10 horses. Astrid Buer, who was a former European gold medal winning young rider, is now competing various young horses with sucess. Buer beat Heiner Duckers who finished second aboard Future D with 8.40. Future D is a Rhinelander stallion by Florestan x Pilot.
In third position were Dr. Ulf Möller on the licensed Holsteiner stallion Amidou (by Alcatraz). The pair received 8.20 from the judges. Amidou and Möller are currently qualified to compete at the 2004 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, but needed an 8.0 score or higher for the Bundeschampionate. His rider Dr. Ulf Möller added that, "for a stallion it's also important to qualify with high scores so that he doesn't have to do the 100-day stallion test and will still be approved for life." The fourth placed horse that qualified for the Bundeschampionate was Donna Divina, also ridden by Astrid Buer. They got 8.00.
In the six-year old division no horse qualified for the Bundeschampionate, but the winner of the class was Insa Hansen on Dorigo Riz a Porta with 7.40.
