Donnerhall's most successful licensed son Don Primero is returning to Germany. The dark bay breeding stallion by Donnerhall x Pik Bube I was sold to Sweden in October 1999 and bred there for three years.

However, for the 200 breeding season, Don Primero will be standing at stud at Paul Schockemohle's Gestut Lewitz in Muhlen, Germany.

The reason for Don Primero's return to his native country is many-sided. Never before did the Don Primero's offspring has such a successful show season as in 2003. Most famous get is Gisela Carstens' Cherie (Don Primero x Lanthan) who won 22 Prix St Georges classes this year, including the 2003 Nurnberg Burgpokal Finals. Youngsters Dynamico (Don Primero x Weltmeyer) and Devil's Bride (Don Primero x Castro) became the 2003 Bundeschampionate champions in dressage.

Don Primero's owner Anna Björkman-Roos listed three more reasons for the "Return of the King." "There are simply more breeding mares in Germany than in Sweden," Björkman said, "and the breeders in Sweden -- not everybody of course -- don't realize that Don Primero is one of the best sires in the world."

Although Don Primero had many breeding successes in Sweden the last two years with several foal champions, Bjorkman thinks it best for her stallion to go back to Germany. "The business is just better in Germany," Bjorkmann stated.
