The importance of the Trakehner horse for modern sport horse breeding seems to get more recognition in the United States day after day. Renee Delisle-Howes is one of the many enthusiastic Trakehner breeders on the American continent who saw benefit in buying

, importing and breeding Trakehner horses. With her stallion Happy Hour, Delisle-Howes hopes to make an impact on the American sport horse breeding market.

Happy Hour is the first approved son of the German Trakehner stallion, Induc, who was the '94 German Bundeschampion (with scores of 10s for rideability, trainability and movement) and was sold to the U.S. in the fall of '98 to Renee DeLisle-Howes of Hawk's Run Trakehners, located in Maryland.

Owner DeLisle was extrememy impressed by the dark bay stallion's foundation bloodlines. "Happy Hour possesses impeccable Trakehner bloodlines on both sides, tracing back to the original Main Stud Trakehnen. He has an absolutely wonderful, kind & willing temperament and like his predecessors, is very rideable and trainable," she said.

"Since the time of Happy Hour's importation to the U.S., he earned his preliminary stallion approval with the American Trakehner Association (ATA) with scores of 8's and 9's, and recently earned his permanent stallion approval by completing the required stallion performance testing as prescribed by the ATA," Renee proudly said. In addition, in October 2000, Happy Hour earned "elite" stallion approval from the American Warmblood Society (AWS) with scores ranging from 8.5 to 10+.

Happy Hour is just 5 years old and is currently being ridden and competed by Carole Lawrence of Willow Lake Farm in Mt. Airy, Maryland. "Carole studied with Nicole Uphoff for four years in Germany and continues to work with Nicole at her farm in Maryland on a routine basis," DeLisle-Howes commented."We very anxiously await Happy Hour's first foal crop in 2001, and look forward in continuing the wonderful tradition of this lineage to produce outstanding performance sport horses with wonderful temperaments," says the enthusiastic owner
