German Grand Prix rider Carina Scholz and her husband, horse dealer Fabian Scholz, have acquired the 9-year old Hanoverian licensed stallion Isterberg V.

Isterberg V is by Instertanz V out of Bravour (by Belissimo M x Rotspon x Lemon Park). He is bred  by Gunther and Marcus Voss.

Licensed Stallion

Isterberg was licensed at the 2017 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden and later on approved for DSP, Westfalen and Oldenburg.

He did his 14-day suitability test in April 2018 and scored 8,58 for dressage and 7,23 for show jumping to finish on a total of 8,03 points. He scored 7,75 in his first stallion sport test in 2019 and 7,72 in his second sport test in 2020.

Sport Career

The stallion was trained by Stephanie Leuenberger at his owner's yard, Gestut Letter Berg.

She first competed him as a 3-year old in 2018 and gradually moved him up the levels. They reached M-level in 2021 and did their first S* test in March 2022. In 2023 they competed at several regional shows at small tour level.

Scholz

In January 2024 Isterberg moved to Carina Scholz near Warendorf, where she would take over the training and produce him to Grand Prix level.

"The owners wanted me to ride him and to compete," Carina told Eurodressage. "He still was placed with Stephanie leuenberger on s level but the plan was to compete him on bigger shows and then to sell him."

The new pair debuted in an S* test at the CDN Ankum in March.

"Our first show together was Ankum to get a first feeling for him and we won the s level with over 72%," said Carina. "After this we decided to buy him by ourselves, because he is a wonderful horse and then we have a lot of time with him."

They rode their first CDI in Sint-Truiden, Belgium, in April, where they won the Prix St Georges with 71.569% and placed third in the Intermediaire I with 68.334%.

"He is a wonderful horse, a really impressive stallion," Scholz explained. "He loves to get attention from the people around him and is always motivated to work. I’m excited for this year with him. I plan  to show him in the Nürnberger burgpokal."
